The other host country
Windhoek hosts World Cup games too, though not India's. Namibia is the add-on people talk about longest: red dunes in one of the oldest deserts on earth, desert elephants, and Etosha's waterholes at the peak of the dry season.
Climb a red dune at sunrise, then walk down to Deadvlei's centuries-old dead camelthorn trees.
A vast salt pan ringed by waterholes. In October the game comes to the water, and Okaukuejo's floodlit waterhole draws black rhino after dark.
Where the dunes meet the Atlantic: Sandwich Harbour by 4x4, kayaking among the seals at Walvis Bay.
Desert-adapted elephants, and the rock engravings of Twyfelfontein, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Namibia is vast, and these four sit hours apart on gravel roads. We fly between them by light aircraft or slow the trip down. Five nights covers two regions well; nine covers all four.

Asked, Answered
The ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2027 runs from 2 October to 21 November 2027 across South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. The final is at the Wanderers in Johannesburg on 21 November.
India's group games are in Cape Town (7 Oct, Australia), Johannesburg (10 Oct, Pakistan), Centurion (14 Oct, Afghanistan), Bloemfontein (17 Oct) and Victoria Falls (24 Oct, Zimbabwe). If India reach the Super 7 they play in Victoria Falls, Johannesburg, Paarl, Cape Town, Gqeberha and Durban between 28 October and 14 November.
Yes, and India's fixtures make it easy. Three nights in the Sabi Sands fit between the Pakistan game on 10 October and Afghanistan on 14 October. India don't play from 18 to 23 October, which leaves room for the Okavango Delta or Namibia before the Victoria Falls games, and Chobe is a day trip from the Falls.
Yes. India don't play in Namibia, but the gap between India's games on 17 and 24 October fits five to eight nights there: Sossusvlei's dunes, Etosha's waterholes, the coast at Swakopmund or Damaraland, before India v Zimbabwe at Victoria Falls. Windhoek hosts group games including England v Bangladesh (8 Oct) and England v Sri Lanka (13 Oct).
October is one of the best months: the end of the dry season, when vegetation is thin and animals gather at water. It is also the hottest month in the Okavango Delta and around Victoria Falls, so game drives run at dawn and dusk.
Yes. Madikwe, a short flight from Johannesburg, and the Eastern Cape reserves near Gqeberha, including Addo, are malaria-free. The Sabi Sands, Kruger, the Okavango Delta and Victoria Falls are malaria areas.
Yes. It's low-water season, so the spray is lighter and the views clearer. The Zimbabwe side holds the most water at this time of year, and Devil's Pool on the Zambian side is usually open in low water.
No. Match tickets come from the ICC: its ticket ballot, which closes on 21 November 2026, and later its official travel and hospitality programmes. En Route Luxe is independent and not affiliated with the ICC. We design the travel around the matches: flights, hotels, safari, transfers and the days between.
